The Evolving Song Cycle

Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 7 PM
featuring baritone and composer Jonathan Stinson

Marburg House, 3102 Bute Lane, Richmond, VA

In this diverse program, we feature An die ferne Geliebte-the first cycle for piano and voice ever written, and instantly find the comfort of song with Beethoven’s breathtaking musical offering.  Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen continue the deep emotional intensity with melodies that are at times intimate, and other times wild and raw. To finish, baritone and composer Jonathan Stinson presents his premiere of the monodrama Uncivil Relief, illuminating important social inequities.
