Merz Trio has been hailed as “entrancing” (BBC Music Magazine) and praised as “artists in the deepest sense of the word” (CutCommon). Winners of the Naumburg, Concert Artists Guild, Fischoff, and Chesapeake Competitions, and recipients of a Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant, the trio has been widely recognized for its “stunning virtuosity” and “perfection of intonation and ensemble” (Reading Eagle, Hudson Review).

Dedicated to reshaping the narrative of classical music, Merz Trio is known for dynamic, narrative-driven programming that weaves together classical masterworks, new music, and original arrangements, often guided by spoken commentary from the ensemble. Their interdisciplinary collaborations span theater, dance, and visual storytelling, with ongoing projects involving directors Emma Jaster and Jon Levin, dancer Caroline Copeland, and Sandglass Puppet Theater.

The trio’s immersive performance projects include Those Secret Eyes, a recital-theater work inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and Ink, their 2021 debut album, which interlaces Ravel’s Trio with music, poetry, and historical texts of the era. Through extensive arranging, Merz Trio also champions overlooked voices, from Hildegard von Bingen and the Boulanger sisters to Joséphine Baker and Irish folk traditions.

Highlights of the 2025–26 season include returns to Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Chamber Music Houston, and Pro Musica (San Miguel de Allende), alongside a debut at People’s Symphony NYC. Merz Trio has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, Duke Performances, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and operates as a nonprofit under Project Merz, Inc.
