In Belvedere’s inaugural matinée concert we explore the idea of rückblick, or the sense of longing and looking back. This afternoon concert commences with Corigliano’s contemplative Fancy on a Bach Air, followed by Martinu’s viola sonata-a poignant remembrance of the composer’s Bohemian roots, and ends with the Brahms C minor piano quartet-a passionate and emotional outpour, earning it the “Werther” moniker.
